The Lou Messugo Blog - life in the south of France from a British/Australian TCK's perspective, bringing you French culture, travel on the Côte d'Azur and beyond, expat issues and a little bit of je ne sais quoi all mixed up with a hefty dose of photography.
Welcome to All About France the monthly blog linky all about France! Simply put, this is the place to link up blog posts with a French theme. And today is extra special as we've been running for 2 whole years. Happy anniversary #AllAboutFrance! Thank you to all the amazing bloggers who have linked up over this time, I really believe we've made a supportive community linked by our love/experience of (or interest in) France and I know that many regulars have made solid online relationships within this group. I'd love to hear any anecdotes or stories about the people you've connected with here. Personally I think I've met 6 of you in the flesh and count another 10 or so as friends even though we haven't actually physically met, such is the nature of the blogging world and modern friendships.
I know I mentioned my business last time but times are tough on the Côte d'Azur (yes I mean it, read on...) and I'm going to remind you again about our lovely holiday rental. Times are tough because of the ghastly attack on NIce last summer, tourism has been badly affected. The last statistic I heard was that tourist numbers are down by 55% and we at Lou Messugo are feeling this badly. I know regular readers and participants of this linky will not be put off travel because of one dreadful attack, so please spread the word, the Côte d'Azur needs you! If you know of anyone thinking about a holiday in southern France, in this area, please do recommend us and of course, I'd love to host you too. I have plenty of special offers on the go, just ask or check out our Facebook page where I regularly post them.
Find out more about the different accommodations we offer: One of the best places on earth!
Thanks once again for indulging me, I'm sure I can count on your solidarity, now let's get back to the linky! Thanks to everyone who linked up last time, as always I've picked a few posts that I really enjoyed. Pop over and show them some love if you haven't already read these great posts.

All About France is a monthly blog linky, linking up blog posts about France. These posts can be freshly scribbled or from your archives as a way of bringing new life to an old article. There is no date limit (though it should be evergreen) and the only rule for subject matter is that it is about France in some way. This can mean French language, French food, French style, French literature, expat life in France, French expats abroad or travel in France among other things. The linky opens on the 1st Thursday of each month and stays open for a week.
• You can link up one post, old or new as long as it's about France/French.• Please make sure you include the All About France badge at the bottom of your post or in the sidebar of your blog, or a hyper-link back to me (the code is below).• Please comment on the host's posts and at least two others, the more the merrier. Blog linkys only work if you're generous with your comments and shares.• Please use the hashtag #AllAboutFrance when sharing on social media.• Don't forget you can join the Pinterest board and pin your post to it for extra exposure.

For more information on All About France you can take a look at the introductory post I wrote here. This linky will stay open until 11.55 pm on Wed 8th Feb and be back again on Thursday 2nd March.
Phoebe, Just sent a fellow blogger your way. She's looking to visit the Cote d'Azur near the end of May. She plays along with my weekly meme Dreaming of France most weeks.
It's Sim at Sim Carter: Past Tense Perfect/Imperfect Here's the link for Sim’s post about her upcoming trip
Phoebe, Thanks for your generosity in hosting us at All About France. I'm so sorry that times are slow for the beautiful Cote d'Azur. I hope they pick up. We've planned a trip to France in May, but we are visiting the other South of France, near Montpelier.
It's lovely around Montpellier, but do look us up if you venture further east. Thanks for your kind words Paulita.
We will definitely plan to come spend a few nights off season once we move to France. Your apartment looks beautiful.
Congratulations on 2 years! This is such a great link up and I learn new things each time! Thanks for keeping this going, and all my best for a fruitful year on the Cote d'Azur. I hope this is just temporary.
Happy Birthday, what a wonderful achievement Phoebe. I certainly hope to meet some of my fellow French bloggers one day. The very best wishes for a busier year for your business. Annette x
Hi, after two years I've attempted to link by pasting the code into my blog. It gives an error message. Are you able to advise? We have a holiday rental in the Alps. It is a bit too early to say whether bookings have been affected but for all of us who are running such businesses I am keeping everything crossed.
Hi Catherine, don't worry too much about the code, just add a hyperlink along the lines of "this post is linked to AllAboutFrance at Lou Messugo". You haven't actually linked yet, which you need to do by clicking on th eblue box "add your link" under the other linked posts. I look forward to reading your blog and good luck with your rental season too!
Hi Phoebe, hopefully, now I'm linked up. Thanks!
Yes, all good now, thanks for joining in.
Hey Phoebe, just an FYI the code hasn't worked for several months for me either. The pic is uploaded to your site just fine but something is wonky w/the div code. I make it appear by copying the photo (not copying code) and then manually linking it back to this page. Thanks for hosting and congrats on 2 years! Glad to be a part of this fab linky!
It is really miserable that your little business is being hurt. Hopefully things will turn around for you. I know that we would be interested the next time we make it to France. But, Jo has said that the next trip we make needs to be to Scotland or Ireland. Of course, with the UnPresidented One now in the White House, ... Forgive me, I shouldn't go there.
Urgh, I feel your pain too Arnie...let's not go there, we might never stop. But thanks for your kind words about my business. I hope ytou make it here one day.
Two years already but then, I already feel that the first Thursday of the month comes around too soon! Thank you for this wonderful initiative. I have not yet met you in the flesh but I certainly hope to!
We nearly met that time at the LVMH Foundation...both there at the same time but technical breakdown in communications meant we didn't know till too late! I'm sure we will manage it one of these days Rosemary. I too find the 1st Thursday comes too quickly!
I am just getting a new website up and running and will then be able to do all the back links and everything! Hopefully for the next one keep me in the loop!
Thank you and Happy Birthday. So sorry to hear that bookings are down, hope people see sense soon!
So do I Catherine!
Happy linky anniversary, Phoebe, and thank you once again.
So sorry to hear that your bookings are down. If everybody allowed themselves to be scared away from places where, or even near to where an attack had taken place, international tourism would grind to a complete halt. People over-react.
Hopefully there are still those with enough gumption and common sense to realise that, and things will buck up for you.
I totally agree, nowhere is necessarily safer than anywhere else these days and yet, where we are in Roquefort les Pins, I'm quite sure we are as safe as houses. I hope things buck up soon....
Happy linky anniversary Phoebe! Hard to believe it's two years! Sorry to hear about the lull in tourism over there. I am sure it will pick up. Will see if we can squeeze a trip in to see you on our itinerary this summer.
Please do Elizabeth, I'd love to meet you and show off my lovely area to you.
I will never stop visiting
That's great to hear David.
Bonjour and thank you for adding my post to your favourites. I know what you mean about difficulties for accommodation providers as up here in Normandy we are finding bookings are only coming in very slowly this year. I reckon a gite deep in the Normandy countryside is as safe as anywhere but many people do see this and will to decide to stay at home or head elsewhere having seen the news.
2 years for #AllAboutFrance is fabulous - well done and bonne continuation!!
I reckon we're as safe as anywhere too, after all we're not in Nice, and only if you fly do you have to pass through the airport. If you drive here you don't have to go into town at all....though we do, and often, as we love it and no one will keep me away. Just like I was back in Paris last weekend...I'll never stay away from there either. Thanks for your encouraging words about the linky...and thanks for linking up (I think) every single time since the start!
So true - my other half and boys still go the rugby in Paris. We need to show our support for France however we can.
Yes, I think I have managed every link up - I do enjoy it
Can't believe it's been 2 years since #AllAboutFrance started - thanks for hosting it's such a lovely linkup for anyone who likes France & like you I've met people as a result, which is great. Enjoy an Anniversary pancake or two today - a very well-timed La Chandeleur if you ask me!! Take care & look forward to the next 2 years. Julie
Will definitely be indulging in a crêpe or 2 later today. Who doesn't love Chandeleur?
