The Lou Messugo Blog - life in the south of France from a British/Australian TCK's perspective, bringing you French culture, travel on the Côte d'Azur and beyond, expat issues and a little bit of je ne sais quoi all mixed up with a hefty dose of photography.

All About France #2

All About France is a monthly blog link up that is pretty self-explanatory - it links up blog posts all about France!  Readers, this means you have a wide range of stories about France to enjoy and bloggers, this means you have a place to highlight anything you've written that touches on a France/French theme.  I hope you all enjoy it.

All About France blog linky with Lou Messugo

So without further ado welcome to the second #AllAboutFrance blog link-up.  I was completely gobsmacked delighted with the response to the first one - huge thank yous, merci, to everyone who joined in. I really enjoyed reading all of your posts and seeing what a great variety of things you all blog about....

There was everything from how to talk to Muslim children about Charlie Hebdo and snow-shoeing in the southern Alps to how French treat their dogs and memories of childhood in France. And plenty, plenty more (48 links!) Unsurprisingly there were several posts about Paris, but also about Alsace, Aveyron, Tarn-et-Garonne, Brittany, Charente-Maritime, Nice, St-Emilion and the Loire Valley.  We had bloggers from USA, France, UK, Ukraine, Germany, Holland, Australia and Canada. (Shout if I left someone out!) It's very hard to pick favourites but if push came to shove I'd have to say car park discoveries and butchering techniques (for their originality) and visiting St Emilion and visiting Colmar (for their beautiful photographs) stood out.

Menton lemon festival 2015

In the first link-up I didn't specify numbers of posts per blog, and I was pleased some of you wanted to link up several posts at once, but from now on I'd like to limit it to 2 per blog maximum and preferably only one as that way you'll always have more for future sessions!  As always, please add my linky badge so that people can navigate back to the link up easily.

In the past couple of weeks since the last link-up we've been busy exploring a new area of France with a visit to Narbonne and surrounding area in the Aude département (new for the whole family) and enjoying Nice Carnival and the Menton lemon festival.  The photos here are just a little taster, full posts coming soon....it's school holidays at the moment which is never the easiest time for me to write.

Please don't forget that as with all blog link ups they work best when the love is shared around, so please read and comment on as many of the other posts linked up as you can! Don't forget to use the hashtag #AllAboutFrance when sharing on social media and I will retweet tweets with it or if you mention me (@FibiTee). Full details of the link-up can be found here

    Hi Phoebe
    love you story and enthusiasm!
sorry I'm new at this but where do I send the link to my blog post about France for you to review and feature?

    Phoebe Friday, 06 March 2015

xin chào Thien Lan! (Just using the little Vietnamese I remember!!) I don't review your blog, you have to link it up yourself using the little blue button which says "add your link" under all the other linked blogs. I'll try and find your email address to send you a PM with instructions.

I don't know how you missed it, but I'm sorry you did. I was so happy with the response - 48 linkers!!! Thanks for the feedback on the badge, I had fun making it with my kids' sports facepaints (for supporting France of course) and my lips! :)

Phoebe, thanks for highlighting my post from last week :) Guess, I got a couple more people convinced to got to Colmar!

And just read your post about the Lemon Carnival in Menton. Had no idea they do it in Feb! Those sculptures look mind-boggling! How much lemonade do they make after it's all over? :)

  • Guest
    Phoebe Thursday, 05 March 2015

Pleasure Elena! Your photos were lovely. At the end of the fête any fruit that is still OK is sold off cheap so I guess a LOT of lemonade is made!!!

I've always been fascinated by even the concept of the Menton Lemon Festival. It looks so colorful as things are so dreary here. Do they serve lots of lemon-based food?

Thanks again for organizing this. I'm looking forward to the new posts, and will try to keep on top of them (last time I was a little late to the game.)

There are lemon-based products for sale particularly Limoncello and other citrus-based liquers and sirops. I also saw lemon cake, lemon tea, citronnade and lemon soaps. But above all there are loads of citrus fruit for sale including unusual ones such as cédrat and bergamot. Thaks for linking up again Betty. You were up early this morning!! :)

Betty Carlson Thursday, 05 March 2015

Ha! I am up early every morning during the week, as early as 5:30 am but sometimes just 6:45, depending on my work schedule.

I love lemon desserts (one of the few desserts I really like) and anything lemony, so this now doubly sounds like a festival for me!
