10 most popular posts of 2015

It's that time of year again when I look back and see which posts got seen and which ones didn't.  I do it mainly for myself as I love lists and statistics though I hope my readers enjoy it too.  I make this list from viewing figures which means that posts written earlier in the year have an obvious advantage simply by being around for longer, but I was delighted to find the post in fourth position was written just over 3 months ago.

Top 10 posts of 2015 Lou Messugo blog

This year there are a pleasing number of posts about local places (4), 2 from Iceland which doesn't surprise me, Iceland is very popular right now generally, 2 from the series I ran about overseas "far-flung" France which I'm happy about and 2 from my linky All About France.  All in all a good balance of what I write about and nothing too surprising this year.

So here they are, from 10th to first position (for a change!)

10.  The exotic hanging gardens of Eze

9.  A long weekend in Martinique

8.  All About France #1

7.  Swimming in Iceland - Top tips and locations

6.  Guadeloupe: the Caribbean butterfly

5.  Orange festival on the French Riviera - la fête de l'oranger

4.  13 of the best hill villages near Nice

3.  3 (unusual) things to love about Nice

2.  4 of the best places to swim in Iceland

And the Number One spot goes to ....

1.  All About France Link Up

I've been so pleased with the success of my monthly link-up focusing on France.  It seems to have captured a special place in many bloggers hearts and after 11 sessions there's a loyal community of "French" bloggers who get invloved every time.  Thank you all for making it such fun.

It's clear titles like "5 of the best..." work very well particularly for SEO purposes but as I (still) write mainly from the heart I can't use them too often, it's just not what this blog is about.  However, occasionally it's just what's required, a great example being the collaborative post I organised about 24 reasons to love Christmas in France, published only a couple of weeks ago and yet already in the Top 20 of the year.  If you haven't seen it yet, take a look, it's an uplifting, positive post, one which I hope will inspire for a long time to come.

Is your favourite post in this list? Please let me know in the comments.  That's it from me in 2015, I'm signing out, wishing you all a very Happy New Year, bonne année, and looking forward to plenty more blogging good times in 2016.

The Hoffell pool in the mountains near Hofn was always my favourite, back in my Iceland days. It was built by the local Scouts in about 1960.
And a very Happy New Year, chere Bloguiste [?] Phoebe

I love this idea - so much so that I have a similar post scheduled for tomorrow ;-)

I agree that list posts definitely work best but it's the personal posts that I enjoy writing more.

I'll be back later to have a read through your list x x
